Keeping Warm and Safe Winter Guide

Be a good neighbour this winter…

Winter can be a difficult time, especially for the elderly and vulnerable,
we have compiled this guide to give you some great tips on how to be
a thoughtful, caring neighbour this winter.

Keeping warm is vitally important…

To the elderly and vulnerable; Is the house nice and warm and the heating on? Do they have extra blankets or need more layers?

Eating hot nutritional meals and hot drinks…

Will provide vital energy which could help combat the cold and boost out immune systems. Does you neighbour have plenty of food, perhaps you could offer to do their shopping?

Medication is vitally important…

Have they taken any prescribed medication and do they have stock?

Companionship can be a life saver…

Knowing you are there can make the world of difference. Just popping round every now and then will provide real peace of mind and security.

In really cold weather…

Water pipes can freeze and walkways can be treacherous. Ask you neighbour where their stopcock is and if your salting your pavements, why not do theirs as well.
