Live in Care Dorset
Looking back through history, it would appear that Dorset’s name derives its name from the county town of Dorchester. Early in the 1st century the Romans established a settlement and called it ‘Durnovaria’ which translated in Latin to ‘Common Brittonic’ believed to be a word meaning “a place with fist-sized pebbles”. Could this possibly be because of the many pebble beaches’ that grace its coastline! (This information has been taken from Wikipedia)
