Lonely at Christmas

Protecting the elderly from scams

The Festive season is about spending time with loved ones, so why are many people still lonely at Christmas?

Age UK reveals that an estimated 400,000 people aged 65 and over are concerned about being lonely at Christmas.

Loneliness is an immense issue in the UK that affects people throughout the year, however when the winter months draw in, bringing cold weather and shorter days, over 2 million people worry about not being able to get out as often.

But there is something that can be done, during this month of giving and togetherness, if you know of an older person, neighbor or relative living alone, be sure to pop in and check on them or put them in contact with their local Age UK.

Age UK offers social activities, transport services, national telephone advice line and much more to help prevent loneliness.
