Remember remember the 5th of November

remember remember the 5th of November

Remember remember the elderly and vulnerable this 5th of November.

Many of us will be attending or hosting firework displays and bonfire parties with our loved ones. However, there will be many vulnerable people that will be scared and confused. The evening can heighten anxiety for many, especially war veterans. The noise from the fireworks and smells can remind them of their experience during the blitz, which can be a frightening time.

If you are hosting a fireworks party, please ensure you inform any elderly or vulnerable neighbours about your plans and what time you will be setting fireworks off.

If you are a carer, check for local firework displays and times. So you can prepare the person and reassure them of the noise, lights, crowds of people and smells.
